I've just finished restoring the interior of my first sailboat (H22) and have no clue about the main sail. I see (4) pulleys at the bottom of the mast but can't figure how all of them are used. I've searched here for pics but can't find any the show me what I want. Same applies to the headsail. Photos would be greatly appreciated. thank, Pete

Use for 4 pulleys

Without seeing your boat, I think that four pulleys at the bottom of the mast are there to lead all of your control lines to the cockpit. Pulley 1 - jib halyard (line that pulls the foresail up the forestay) Pulley 2 - Main halyard (line that puls the main sail up the mast) Pulley 3 - first reefing line for the main sail Pulley 4 - second reefing line for tha main sail. I would suggest that you go to the nearest marina, walk the docks, talk to people, and this will be better than any pictures that you may see. Take a basic sailing course which will help you a lot not only in standing/running rigging arangements , but also how to use it properly and safely - it worked well for me when I first started a few years ago. Hope this helps Happy sailing

Use of the 4 pulleys

I have only 2 lines in use on my boat. A member in our club also has a H22 and uses the 2 on the port side for his spinnaker. The 2 on the starboard side are for raising the main and the jib. The ones on the port side would need more blocks etc. for their use.

mayby I'm wrong?

Hello- I have an 82 Hunter 22 I also just finished restoring. It's my first step up to a larger boat. But re-rigging the mast, I followed the old lines (they were orriginal) and I ended up with one head sail line and one main sail line. Mine also has four pullys but I figured I go with an easy configuration first and explore my options from there. Good luck! Chris
