Nice. Sometimes a broken clock will tell the correct time twice a day.

Might be the dock area is not returning a readable signal due to turbidity in the water or mushy confusion bottom surface.
Might be a bad wire, corrosion, or as you say a bad transducer.

Best solution might just be a new unit.
