Hello everyone, hope that all are well. We left Long Beach in November for Mexico and have been having a great adventure so far. We need to buy a new mainsail and sail storage system (similar to Doyles stack pack). Before leaving the boat on the hard in San Carlos we took as many measurements as we could but of course did not get all of the measurements that the loft needs to build the package that we want. I would ideally like to find someone who has the same boat (1992 Hunter Legend 35.5 fractional rig)somewhere in the Los Angeles area that would not mind me taking some measurements aboard. There are quite a few different measurements that we need to get and would prefer to take the measurements personally so that if there is a problem later with fit of the system I can rerimand the guy who did the measuring. Would appreciate access to someones deck for about an hour to get it all nailed down. If you would prefer to write me directly please feel free at alopez865@earthlink.net.

The 35.5 specs are in most sail loft data bases. What additional specs are they looking for besides those in the data base?

Custom Bimini issue

Alan, The measurements I need are due to the bimini that I have aboard. Standard specs wont take that into account and if I can get to sister ship I can figure it all out. Thanks

Custom Bimini issue

Your boat comes with a mast adjustable topping lift for a flaked main. The bimini should be sized low enough that when the main is sheeted in hard, the boom clears the top of it. If it doesn't then the bimini will need to be lowered. To sacrifice sail trim on your main for the sake of a tall bimini is insanity. When the weather pipes up and you need to flatten sail, the main sheet and vang need to be able to pull the main down fully. The dodger on my boat is just able to stay clear of a hard sheeted main. A bimini for the helm can easily be constructed behind the sweep of the boom to allow for greater head clearance and still allow for full trimming of the main.
