I have an improved manual
Bill, I have an updated and improved Manual for the DS II available, I took the basic "manual" from O'DAY and expanded it a bit to include a lot more diagrams.I include the drawing that Roger posted (but clearer) and a few memos from O'DAY. It is now about 12 pages long. You can get the lifting cable for your DS II from Rudy Nickerson at D&R Marine, I'll include a link below. Otherwise, you could have one made locally (I'd get one from Rudy) You may be able to get him to do all the nicopress crimps before sending it to you if you can give him measurements for length. (I'm lucky enough to live close enough to visit Rudy on a Saturday morning, so I just brought my old cable to him to duplicate). Yes, you would think that he would have exact length...but I guess there are a few variations over the production run of the DS II. My Manual has this length listed along with all other running rigging specs.I've removed/reinstalled the CB in my 1979 DS II several times in the 11 years that I've owned her, so if you have any other questions, let me know! (CB is presently in my basement, not 40 miles away in boat.)
