Thanks - great information

Roger Thanks for replying (this is the first time I have used this Oday owners resourse so hope I am doing this right). After reviewing your first drawing, I can see why I have great dificulty raising and lowering the cb. Whoever rigged it did it all wrong with both pulling mechanisms connected to the forward deck. I ordered an owners manuel but the drawing is not clear nor detailed enough to determine the type of blocks/pulleys to use. I also can't tell where to use wire line vs dacron and where to start the wire and dacron lines. It appears that the line measurements (lengths) will have to be fairly exact. I will have to purchase or find someone with the crimping tool for use with the wire line. Do you have a recommended sourse for purchasing blocks? I live in Cedar Key, a small island in the Gulf about two hours north of St Pete and unfortunately there are no sailboat repair shops near us. I could not get your drawing to print, maybe it is just to light to print. I would appreciate seeing the other pictures/drawins that you have. I thank you for your help. Bill Delaino

I have an improved manual

Bill, I have an updated and improved Manual for the DS II available, I took the basic "manual" from O'DAY and expanded it a bit to include a lot more diagrams. I include the drawing that Roger posted (but clearer) and a few memos from O'DAY. It is now about 12 pages long. You can get the lifting cable for your DS II from Rudy Nickerson at D&R Marine, I'll include a link below. Otherwise, you could have one made locally (I'd get one from Rudy) You may be able to get him to do all the nicopress crimps before sending it to you if you can give him measurements for length. (I'm lucky enough to live close enough to visit Rudy on a Saturday morning, so I just brought my old cable to him to duplicate). Yes, you would think that he would have exact length...but I guess there are a few variations over the production run of the DS II. My Manual has this length listed along with all other running rigging specs. I've removed/reinstalled the CB in my 1979 DS II several times in the 11 years that I've owned her, so if you have any other questions, let me know! (CB is presently in my basement, not 40 miles away in boat.)
