Need help making a choice

Looking to buy my first sailboat. Will be looking at a 21' Clipper and a 16' Ray Greene Rebel this weekend. Any advise would be welcome.

A little more information is needed for any useful advise- condition of boats and equipment, what kind of sailing you want to do, and where. The two boats are very differerent. The Clipper is a pocket cruiser with berths for 4 in the cabin; the
Rebel is an open boat with no cabin. You will be wet in the Rebel, but it is supposed to be a pretty good boat, fom what I read. If you have any intention of spending real time, perhaps overnight, or sailing long distances, the Clipper wouold be better. -Paul

I'm a beginner so I'm basically looking for a boat to learn on. The Rebel has been sanded down completely and will need a new coat of paint. The Clipper needs a good cleaning but is basically ready to sail. In the beginning I will be using on a local lake daysailing.

I have owned both boats I saved both from the scrap yard, fixed them up and enjoyed them. i would suggest the clipper for you, I found the Rebel was quite cut for racing and speed, it was best heeled up as far as possible, and that is not very comfortable for begginers. The clipper will be much more comfortable and afford you some shelter, you will find you need to get out of the sun from time to time, espically with any kids aboard.
