I got a last minute call to bring a 68 footer back to Chicago after Chicago MAC on July 26th for a relative. No time limit so we will be stopping along the way. I have 2 crew with limited experience. I have 30 years experience including big boat. PM and we can work out details. Expenses during delivery picked up. Transport up to MAC Island from Cleveland, Toledo, or Detroit. Ride back from Chicago also available to those locations.

Yup. Would be a good experience for me being a new sailer and I live in MI. How long a trip will it be?

I go to Mak island twice a summer.

Just a follow up. We had a very nice trip back on July 27th. Arrived on the Island on the 26th and had a very nice lunch with my crew. Hung around Mac Island for the rest of the day and had a very nice dinner. The crew consisted of one of my racing buddies, one of his crew and Dion who contacted me from my post here.
The plan was to sail to Frankfort Mi the first day which is a 105 miles. Not much wind so we motored the whole way and averaged 9-1/2 knots. Frankfort had a great marina which was a little tricky docking due to a balky transmission shifter. Frankfort is a great town which sits right over the Marina. A very nice dinner. Thursday morning we had great fresh baked goods at a local bakery and got some huge sandwiches freshly made at a local deli. The plan was proceed to Muskegon Mi which is another 100miles. We probably could have sailed with the number 3 up. The boat didn't have its delivery main and the crew and myself were not too anxious to drag out the new $20,000 main. We motored with a following sea on the aft quarter and dodged two smaller storms. Our dock in Muskegon would be "iffy" as to depth and the forecast was "iffy" for Friday afternoon. We kept on trucking straight to Burnham harbor dodging a couple of storms on the way. We arrived in Chicago at 4:00 AM having covered 210 miles in 18 hours. Trying to find the entrance to Burnham was impossible with all the lights. Soldier Field and McCormick place are not lit at night so we waited until dawn. No problem docking.
