I am considering a Chesapeake cruise to visit the US Sailboat show in Annapolis, MD in Oct. I would like to put in on the VA (southern) side and make two days passage about 50 to 60 miles per day with an overnight in a marina with good services. Then I would like stay at a marina around Annapolis. Could some of you give suggestions for put in and stop over locations? Anyone interested in joining us along the way? Thank you, Joe C. in NC

Chesapeake Info

How can you make 50-60 miles per day?. What kind of boat do you have? Need a lot more details before I can give you any advice.

Further Info.

Hi Bart, I have a H260 that is well equipped for cruising. With this boat and my previous 26 footer I have made trips of over 45 miles in about 7 3/4 hours sometimes sailing almost all the way. I have lots of fuel tankage and can motor in to wind or chop if necessary. I would like to stay near Annapolis on the south side preferrably. I need another stopping place, I guess somewhere around Lexington park and a launch site somewhere around White Stone to Reedville. I was going to stay on the VA side to avoid the Bay Bridge tunnel with the boat on trailer. Thanks for your help, Joe C. in NC

Solomons Island

If you are leaving from reedsville and you could make it up to solomons island I would definately recommend it! There are several full service marina's and the town is a great place to stroll around in the evenings. As for annapolis I can't help much. I'll be there at the boat show! Hope to bump into you! good luck check it out at: http://sba.solomons.md.us Chris Blue Light Special
