Need cabin light info

New owner of 2006 343. I want to just sit and read without lighting up the whole boat, by using the switchable reading lamps. It appears that all the cabin lights have to be on to be able to use the switchable lights. I hope I am missing something here, as this situation seems ludicrous. Does anybody have experience in replacing the non-switchable cabin lights to lights with switches? Many thanks.

Congratulations on purchasing your 343. I have had mine for two years now; I really enjoy the boat.

I am somewhat puzzled by your question. The reading lights and cabin lights are on the same circuit breaker on the AC panel; however, they operate independently from one another. Each reading light has a black rocker switch on the chrome base. The overhead cabin lights in the salon have white plastic rocker switches that are mounted on the overhead liner about where it intersects with the starboard side of the interior, just forward of the AC panel. There is another plastic rocker switch overhead in the galley about where it intersects with the aft bulkhead that leads to the aft berth. In the forward berth, aft berth, and head; the overhead cabin light has a small black slider switch that is part of the light housing. Hope this helps, if not, let me know and I will get some photos when I am on the boat. Keep in touch if you have any other questions.

The reading lights, we know, have their own switches. However, I've not seen the white rocker switches on the overhead liner, so will look next visit. Nor have I seen the rocker switch overhead in the galley. The head light indeed has its own switch, but we didn't find switches for the cabin lights in the fore and aft berths. Many thanks, will let you know if I've just been blind!

Overheads in berths have small slide switches on base if original, same as ohead in shower. Rocker on liner for galley is over door to aft berth so you can reach from companionway. Rocker for salon is forward of chart table - sitting on starboard bench should be overhead.

The cabin overhead rocker switches are difficult to see. They are the same color as the overhead cabin liner and are inconspicuous unless you know where to find them.
The small slider switches on the over head lights in the forward and aft berths as well as the head are also difficult to find. The slider barely protrudes from the light base. Good luck on your search; again, if you cant find them let me know and I will get some photos.

Do you have the tech specs/model/supplier on the wide,liner-colored rocker switches? I have three of them vertically mounted on the side-panel of the nav station in my B411, that control overhead light fixtures. I came across a touch-dimmer that I'd like to use in their place but can't locate specs or dimensions on that original rocker and am away from the boat for 2 weeks....
