I have these emergency beacons, the small ones that attach to your PFD. They are an older design that require two AA batteries where the entire case is the negative. Even have a label reminding you to scrape off the cover so that it will ground properly. But I cannot find those batteries. Somehow the current AA batteries isolate the body from the negative.
The batteries go postive end first to a contact on the bottom. About one-half inch from the bottom is a contact that rides against the side of the battery for the negative. If I could solder a wire there I could run it to the top and contact the battery negative end. But there is no way to get in there. There is only the hole the size of a AA.
