I will be replacing my deck light (prizm) as soon as the weather stays above freezing. My question is what sailors use to remove old caulk/bedding besides a scraper or flathead screwdriver. What type of liquid should I use to clean the remaining stuff I can't scrape off without leaving a residue that the new bedding compound won't adhere to?

Tim, Mineral spirits is a good start for a

solvent. Xylene is also very effective but somewhat of a caution. When you rebed the prism remember how much trouble you had cleaning up the bedding compound this time and use something that is easy to remove later.

Use Goof-Off

Tim, Use a product called Goof-Off. You can get it at Lowe's our your local paint store. This stuff works great. Wear gloves when you use it. Dale
