The mast is raised from the front using the boom. I assume it cannot be supported from the pulpit, it seems that it will be way too much weight. The center of gravity is about three feet in front of the pulpit.
I have a truck and have considered making a support that can be setup in the bed of the truck.
What have others used to support the mast.

Take a look at this YouTube video, and then the written instructions... Hopefully this helps. I have not done this, but intend to when I step mine for the first time...

It is much simpler using the boom as a gin pole if your mast is hinged. We did it on Novelman's Lancer. If your base is not hinged you'll have to make a hoist like the one in the video.

Possible solution to mast crutch.

Thought I might share this idea for comments and critiques.
I may use 2x3 aluminum pole. Attach it at the bottom with a bracket. Support in mddle with rope from front anchor cleats on each side.

It needs to stick out 3-4' beyond pulpit to balance mast.

Seems too easy.
