C22 Wing Keel
We bought a 1989 C22 wing keel a few months ago and it was the best decision we've made in awhile. We were able to raise the mast useing just the two of us and a long lengh of rope. My wife hauled on the line which was attached to the forstay while I did the raising on the boat itself. After it was at about 30 degrees, the mast became very easy to hoist as my wife had the mechanical advantage by then. The trailer we use has an extension tongue and without that, we would have to use a sling lift. Better to just launch her and then keep her in a slip if you can. Hauling out annually for maint., paint, etc.. Watch your water depth with that wing though. We have run aground twice and while it was a confidence builder in our opinion of the hull, it was also very embarrassing. We now use a depth sounder and try to keep out of the bay at low tide. Tampabay is notorious for being shallow with large expanses of flats. Anyway, you are making a great choice and will enjoy her for many years. Best of luck!David SpragueSkipper of: s/v Oh Yeah
