I need to transport a 28 from New England to Annapolis and am looking for either a trailer, a cradle, or specs to build one in the next few weeks. I am willing to beg, borrow, rent, or buy.

HI, Andy, Is this your oun boat or one you got up here in new england. I have a 85-28 oday which I bought in MA and transported to here to maine. you or I are looking into investment of approxment 20 + ks you want to keep it so why would you cut corners of a half ass makesfist trailer and get to where you want in the same condishion you have.get a boat transporter its covered by insurance and its done I know its costs but I know when I get it to my new location its the same as it left This is my input I have been through this before. firstly.....I believe that the O'28 with a 10' beam, is too wide for trailoring without a permit (and all th4e crap that getting one from the DMV entails) Secondly trailoring a 7500 lb. boat (weith trailor) is heavy and without a BIG rig to pull it, ibelieve would ruin a vehicle. There are MANY trucking companies that deliver boats to Annapolis every day of the year. Look into one of the local boat dealerships and see when they get deliveries. MOst boat trucking companies deliver new boats (and old) only 1 way so if you can find one that is going BACK south you can usually get a deal as the truck needs to go back anyways. The third option is sail it down yourself or get a delivery capt. ( I know a few EXCELLANT capt.'s) to do it. The cost is usually around $250-$300 per day plus expenses but the boat stays in the water (where it is safer) best of luck
