Need a spreader bushing (or whatever it's called)

Hi fellow Beneteau owners. I have a 361 and lost a small thingamajig, which I will call a "spreader bushing." See pic below. It's the white, plastic sleeve that the spreader pin goes through. I looked on the Beneteau Spare Parts website, but found no luck. It referred me to www.charlestonspar.com for any parts not found on the Beneteau site, but that was a dead end too. Anyway, i need one of these little guys, and probably would order a handful just in case. Does anyone know the technical term for these things and where I can get them? :)

Any help is greatly appreciated!

that's a nylon bushing and they are sold by size ...od...id...and length you can get them on line if you do a google search ...they may come too long some times but a saw and sander will solve that problem

You can get nylon bushings at hardware stores, but you gotta know the size.

Thanks guys, next time I'm at the boat I'll get one of the bushings and will take it to a hardware store. :)

Why use the bushing at all? Just get a larger diameter clevis pin... Just a thought.

Have a look at the attached file. It's part C, code 151183, from sparcraft in France.
By the way my boat doesn't have them. It has larger diameter clevis pins instead. I don't know if it matters but it's like this the last 13 years.
Was it a very big job to drop the mast? I suppose you are changing the standing rigging?

Thanks guys, I suppose I ought to have considered simply going with a larger clevis pin. Need to figure out that diameter now though.

Philip, thanks for the attachment, and the reason I dropped the mast, which I have done every year, is because I do indoor heated storage in the winter. It isn't a very big job for me, I just sit back and watch the yard crew do it. :) They use a crane that is on the lift while the boat is still floating in the well. Then once the mast is removed and stowed on shore, they come back and lift the boat out of the water and put it on the cradle. Easy peasy, and they haven't messed it up yet (knock on wood).

The bushing is there for a reason, the pin and the spreader parts are dissimilar metals - you need to isolate them. Any competent rigger should have a selection of parts.

... And metal on metal, one of them is going to take the wear and tear. Bushings are cheaper than spreader mounts or spreaders.

Not a problem in fresh water!,,
I would be more concerned about the bushing age disintegrating under load allowing the spreader to wiggle around letting the pin mangle the hole.

You should inspect your rig every 5 years, and replace the standing rigging every 10. That was the duty cycle these parts are designed to.
