Today the Admiral decided we needed a new main sail. The old one is yellowed and looks crappy. The Newport 17 came with a new, crisp, white jib which makes the main look even worse.
Any suggestions on a good source for a sail? Any advice on buying one?

I just bought a new Jib and Mainsail from Diebold Sailing, 5556 Edgewater Drive, Toledo, Ohio USA 43611 (call them at 419 726-2933 (Main Office) or see their website at www.dieballsailing.com.

I shopped around at the various big name lofts at the boat shows. But a recommendation via word of mouth from a very winning boat was the reason why I went with Dieball. Their price was decent (not the least expensive but definitely "good") and the sails are awesome.

With that said, I am Robert Lang and you can contact me via this forum's e-mail and msg capabilities, if you want to talk privately about this.

A new mainsail is going to cost you less than $500.
Why would you buy used?
The best investment you can make on a sailboat is new sails!

If you have the money, go new and go local. A local guy will be able to come to the boat to check things out.
