Help!! I just purchased a new 4-stroke Honda 9.9 outboard to replace my tired old one, and the motor head is too big to tilt into my transom well. I need to find a motor mount design that will bolt through my transom and move the mounting position further aft by 4-5 inches. It also needs to be strong enough to support the heavy Honda and handle its high-torque output (3:1 drive ratio/4 blade prop). I have been unable to find anything available at local Marine outlets, so it looks like I'll need to have one fabricated. I am surprised that there is so little information out there since this seems to be a common problem with C-27's as 2-strokes are phased out. Thanks, Chris

Below is a link to an absolutely terrific motor mounting system that bolts on, holds the weight and looked very easy to operate. Unfortunately it costs upwards of $500 so it was out of my budget. It might be something for you to look into. Their site says it's out of stock till further notice. I hope they didn't discontinue it - it's a terrific product! LaDonna

Need one too

Although my C25 swing keel boat sounds slightly different than your C27..... I need a new mount for my New Honda 4 stroke 8hp x-long shaft. The Honda 8 and 9.9 are the same motor. Yours is bored a bit more. I have the original bracket and it doesn't allow me to tilt my motor up all the way. The head of the motor is so large and not far enough back from the transom. The hydrolic piston in the motor bracket that helps raise the motor just died. Oh well I needed a different mount anyway. Can't wait to see what everyone else recommends.

Alan, Check out this Link!

Alan, If you have never been to the Catalina 25/250 National Association website, specifically the Sailor's Forum, then I suggest you go there and check it out. This discussion(C25 motor mounts with Honda's) comes up quite often and there is a lot of information on the forum. Below is a link to a specific discussion about the Honda 8 XLS and new motor mounts. Additionally, you can do a "Search" with in the C25 forum on "motor mounts" and pull up a good crop of discussions. The National Association's website is, http://www.catalina25-250.org/ The related link will take you to the specific topic I mentioned earlier. Good Luck.

Thanks to all who have given input...

Thank you to all who have replied. I like the looks of the Eze Slide, so I have sent an e-mail requesting info. I will update this thread as soon as I hear back from the Eze Slide folks. I did look into the West Marine product and I'm not sure it's sturdy enough for my Honda's weight or torque. Thanks again, and Merry Christmas/ Happy New Year to all. Chris
