I'm looking for a microwave that can be mounted in a Hunter '92. Is anyone aware of a microwave that is small enough to mount on my boat. And where can I buy one. Please email me at Aschus9191@aol.com Thanks

It's in the archives..

If you will search the "Forum Archives" using "microwave" as your only argument you will get several hits. I saw one about a Samsung model for an H35.

Check Walmart...

That's where I bought mine... Take measurements...take your tape measure to Walmart. They offer at least 3 that should fit on just about any boat big enough to have a source of power to operate it.

H-35 Microwave

The H-35 'Legend' series have a fairly tight space on the top of the aft cabin hanging locker and very few models of microwave have the vertical clearance to fit there. Horizontal clearance is more than ample. The 35.5 will probably have different clearances. We ordered a Samsung MU3250W microwave (9 5/8H x 18 1/4 wide x 12 3/4 deep) for this space from brandsmall.com. It cost 69.99 plus 9.95 for ground shipping. Oven capacity is 0.5 cu ft, power is 600 W, and it has an auto defrost, 10 cooking levels with a tough pad, and a digital timer. W is for white and the door opener is a fairly soft touch. I've seen K-mart advertise a non-electronic 'on sale' for a few bucks less but we prefered the digital. The door does not quite clear the teak trim on the hanging locker (that prevents things from falling off) but this is screwed on and I just unscrewed it and put another lower strip on there (saving the original trim in the event we sell the boat).

Non-electric microwave??? Please explain!

Sharp makes a 600w with turntable that's only about 9" high... 13" deep. Just big enough to hold a dinner plate. I paid $99 at Walmart a couple of years ago...saw it a year later for $89. ' Remember when microwaves were $300-500???

Answer to "non-electric"

What I meant was 'non-electronic', not 'non-electric'. The non-electronic have mechanical timers, sort of like the mechanical egg timerss, where one turns a knob and the timer starts ticking down. With the electronic version one enters the time desired on the key pad and the countdown is electronic and quiet. To add to my previous post, I did find another microwave that would probably fit the space but it was black (vice white), and our preference was for white. Also, the black one was much more expensive, like double the cost. The 35.5 is very likely to have either a different clearance and/or perhaps a different layout than the older 35.
