I need to fix or replace the current stove that is in my boat. I have a kenyon single burner non pressurized alcohol stove that is 8" by 8" by 4" high. Does anyone know of a stove that will fit into an area with those measurements? I have heard the praises of Orgio stoves. The problem is that I would have to modify my boat to fit the stove into this. The modification would mean making the place in the fiberglass cabnet 1.5 inches wider and 1.5 inches higher. I would have to get teak to frame in the new opening and I would have to make a new cabnet door for the stove. I am trying to avoid this situation because I am not sure if that modification would work. If anyone knows different manufactures I would like to get their names so that I can search their products on the web sites so that I can search for a stove that will fit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Reason for Replacement

The stove leaks after you fill the alcohol storage tank. The stove flared up and started a small fire because of this.

Bulk head mounted

Force ten and others make bulkhead mounted gimbaled stoves that hang. This would ceate counter space somthing every 22' owner needs, I know I did.

tried butane stove?

We have used a small butane stove that would fit your space. The flame is hot and the water heats up much faster than with our alcohol stove. The cannisters are convenient.

Propane -

Go to the practical sailor website and lookup propane stoves. You will get the whole truthfull story there. Why does most of the world use propane while we still like to burn ourselves up with alcohol???

They have one on sale at times for $14.99. I got one and it works well. It has a quartz lighter which I like a lot. Should be safer than alcohol. If the cylinder leaks, it is a small quantity - dangerous still but less so than a larger tank which you have to install so carefully.
