I need a wreck. She must hold together for the trip to Cleveland, look like some drunks from Sloppy Joes had her 50 years ago, and must be free for the taking. I'd prefer a lobster boat. So scour your area and look for a real gem. Take pics and post on this page. I need the helm and transom mostly, only. But the bow would be cool too.

Tis a bar

I figure. since nobody wants to hire me for ANY job, I will have to start my own, or die. I figure I could rent a storefront, move in all the junk chairs I have around the house and in the basement, clean out everyones basement of tables and chairs and start a bar. The bar area would be one or two lobster boats. The stern for the bar, the bow for storage. It would be a "bring your own chair" bar. Want to sit down? Bring a chair. Hey, how many bars you ever been in that had your own mug behind the bar so when you came in your got your mug just what I'd want to drink from, a mug thats been sitting in smoky air day after day)? One section would be a coffee area with old office seating and equipment. You can pick it up for peanuts, or free. I'd have wifi there so you could surf the net any time of day. Of course there would be raggae and Buffet music playing. We'd have Hemmingway look alike contests,a place where parrotheads could meet, my conch republic flag signed by Mel Fisher and a blow up of my picture of me and my daughter with Mel Fisher, pictures of Olin Stevens, Joel White, and many more. Tartan Marine was started up the road at Grand River and they still have the molds there for the Thistle, Highlander and 37' Tartan. Stack those in the corner or against the wall. To me, they are art. There would be boaty stuff everywhere like posters of the upcoming tall ships festival and the Burning River Festival. It would be ahoot, cheap, and REAL nautical. Oh yeah, big screen LCD's on the walls connected to the net showing web cams from all over the world, like beaches, underwater cams in the oceans, you could follow New Years on web cams from Brisbane to Paris to New York to St. Louis to LA to Hawaii. It would be midnight every hour!! Or 5 o'clock someplace. The bar would be like the joint in the Virgin Islands. Eclectic. With good slovak food of stuffed cabbage, haluski, and apple pie. Or whatever else I felt like making. And the fries would be crisp. Period.

Sounds like my place

Tom, This bar you are discribing sounds like half the batchlor pads in Cleveland. Accept they have seating. I think you'll have to come up with something a bit more original if you want to make it in the bar biz. Maybe something like cheap drinksbetween 5 and 7pm, Ladies nite, sawdust on the floor and country music blarring from a protable radio behind the bar. Then you will need a draw, how about free pretzels. Let us not forget the signed pictures hanging on the walls of Cleveland Bears, worn out actors and dead singers from the 40's. Now that sounds like a place.

Hey i would drive down from Toronto

just to have a couple of drinks. It is great what you can do without restrictive drinking laws like we have up here. We are still haunted by the ghosts of the Temperance Union!! We would have a 100 laws that would prevent some one doing just that in Ontario. Good luck

Margeritaville Vegas

Sounds like my kind of place! Margaritaville in Las Vegas has tables built into the stern area of (faux)_hatteras type fishing boats, It's really a sharp concept. Real fishing gear, flybridge etc.

I have it on my to do list

Sorry I can't help with supplying any boat but I would come to Cleveland just to visit this bar. I have travelled all the continents and seen most of the stuff in the travel posters. I am into all things nautical now, so who cares if it is not the biggest or tallest or prettiest.I like the ordinary sailboat stuff you never really get to see. Do you have a name in mind for this place? Maybe the people on this forum could come up with a real good one. I am watching with interest. Ken I like beer in a jug with a handle.

Great concept!

Tough business but hey, if you can do it then why not. No lobster boats down here but there might be a shrimp boat or two available. Shrimping is getting to be too expensive for a lot of these guys. If you are interested let me know and I'll ask around. I'm with you George, GO STEELERS!

If serious, drop me a line.

If this is a serious search for transoms and such. Let me know. I know where a couple can be had in Cleveland area. Charlie
