I purchased a 1994 Hunter 40.5 a couple of months ago and the freezer works fine. The compressor works for the refridgerator but it does not cool, so I'm assuming it needs a freon charge. Is this a big deal? Bill s/v Bardi Sea
It is not that big a deal. It does need to be done by a refrigeration repair company.Although it is most likely an R12 system, it only holds 4-5 ounces of rerigerant, so it should not be too costly. Be sure to have the system leak checked so you will not be doing this more than once.
I HAD TO HAVE MINE ALSO RECHARGED ON MY 40.5. CALL KEN AT NORTONS HE HAD A GUY COME OVER AND DO IT FOR ME. IT WORKS VERY WELL NOW. MAY BE I WILL SEE U IN DELTAVILLE SOMETIME.
