My boat is missing a stanchion. The pipe is 1” outer diameter, 24” tall, with a tapered top, and the holes at the base are 2’x2 ¾”. Anybody out there know where I can find one, or find a junked S2?

Good luck with this one. I had a similar problem and bought a whole set from a salvager in Georgia. (Check Ebay) If I had yours I would take one up to ol' Leonard at Charlotte Marine and see if he could duplicate it. You have a guy like him around there; just got to find him.

After recovering from the shock of prices at different manufacturers (Ronstan, SeaDog, etc., which you should check out on tthe wwweb) we went to the local scrap yard and bought about 24 feet of stainless steel tubing for about $25.00 . The alloy number is often printed on it, so you can know exactly what you're getting. (There's stainless and there's STAINLESS.) We did buy a set of SeaDog SS stanchion caps to finish them off nicely. An afternoon cuttting the lengths and drilling a hole or two, and we're ready for the next 20 years.
