I saw Necker Island the last time I was in the BVI's-from a distance of course. Hopefully he has insurance:)

Looks like we need to call and cancel our reservations. Anyone out there have a private island for rent in the December time frame?

I was on a charter in the BVI a few years ago at anchor in Trellis Bay right off the Cyber cafe when Sir Richard motored by right next to our boat on his twin engine "Dingy". He was ferrying someone to the airport or perhaps he was going home himself and wanted to skipper over. Quite and impressive looking chap with the crisp white shirt and white hair flowing. My wife was very impressed and I had dingy envy. LOL. Hope he and his guests (Kate Winslet et al.) are well.

Must have been a while ago, that whole area is so packed with moorings now i dont think anything larger than a dinghy could anchor in there now

Yeah it's a tight fit. Mooring balls everywhere. We were way off to the side and the Capt we were with hated the mooring balls and anchored everywhere. It's why we saw Sir Richard. We were so far off to the side that we were right along the little passage way to the piers and all the launches going in and out went right past us. Guess that was the only place we could get a spot free to swing around.

You must have been in a catamaran, or a shoal draft boat because if you were where i think you were, that is only about 3-4 ft deep...

We were in a 54' Jenneau. "The Sophisticated Lady" Capt Rick. Great boat and he's a hell of a lot of fun to be with.
We were on the right side when facing towards shore. Way in past The Last Resort and almost to the docks. I remember it being about 8' deep there. Only thing was the wakes of the launches going in and out but I was used to it and it didn't bug me at all.

Learned a ton about sailing that week. We even beat the pants off a racing cat going from Anegada to Jost. Won a round of drinks on that race. My big mouth after a few Painkillers spouted off "hey Capt Rick, why dont we race your friend over to Jost." While we were sailing Capt Rick turned to me and said next time pick on a slower boat. We won anyway which was a testament to Ricks sailing prowess.
Man what a great memory and wish I was back there right now. Ain't nothing like it in the whole wide world.
