Any experience with this show? (Bayside Expo Center) Looks kinda heavy on the powerboats.

Power boats

Yes it is, sailboats are usually in the back, most are monster size not many small cruisers. If you are an owner of an average size sailboat, get in one of these, some of them seem like luxury hotel rooms on water.

I have an 85 Pearson 34

and I am interested in equipment, not the boats, other than gawking. But I wouldn't do the drive just to gawk @ RV's w/masts in them. Maine Boatbuilder's Show is good gawking @ quality boats, large & small.

I purchased my boat there last year...

So I tend to think it's an decent show. Fortunately for me we struck the deal at the end of the show. It would be tough to watch all those people climbing all over your brand new toy for five days. Eastern Yacht Sales has at least 5 or 6 Catalina's there starting at 30 feet and going up. I found it great to be able to compare the Beneteau, Jenneau and Catalina brands by only having to walk a few feet. I spent almost an entire day (mid week when it was slow) going through the bilges, engine compartments, wiring etc. etc. on the three brands before I decided to buy my Catalina...

Your boat show boat!

I was most likely one of those many whom visited your vessel. Don't worry, I wore boat shoes!

NE Boat Show, 2006

What little sailboats they had this year were beautiful however lacking in the small cruisers 21'-29'. This show should really be called the "NE Power Boat Show", I'd say 85% of the boats were power. I have nothing against power boats other than when they purposely run you down. Good ole' American instant gratification, the fast paced "Pop" culture we live in!

I went with a plan

I went with a grocery list,as I am outfitting my new boat. Lot's of nav stuff, but no Garmin, which was my interest. I didn't see any big deals for the stuff on my list, but I did buy a Brig 300 dinghy at a great price,so the trip was worth the price of admission.

NE Boat show...

...pretty much sucked for many years. Absolutely geared toward stinkpotters and the Bayside is a pain in the butt. I stopped going years ago. Maybe they have more sail stuff now, I don't know. But the fact that it's at the Bayside is enough to discourage me. Cheers, Bob
