Hey All

I'm scouting out some 5 hour legs for a 10 day cruise from Edenton NC to New Bern. I've done most legs of this trip over the years but not all of it in one longer-ish cruise. So this summer I want to "put it all together".

There are two "ports" on this trip that I have never been to by boat ...

One is Stumpy Point Bay and the other is Hatteras... There is plenty of info on Hatteras but I have not found much on-line about Stumpy Point.

I'm curious to hear from anyone who has anchored over in Stumpy Point Bay (10 Kt SW of Roanoke Is -- see JPG). From the charts it looks like an ideal spot to overnight but I'm thinking that if it was so great, there would be some reviews on line to look over. So wazzupwidat?

If you have stayed over in Stumpy Point, I'd love to hear how your experience with the place went. I know it is shoal, I have a swing keel so I'm okay with that. I'm curious about protection, holding, mosquitoes, and if there are any stores ashore where I can get ice, cokes etc.

We anchored there one night 2 years ago on our way to manteo.
Generally more depth further in than charted. Very wide open so not a lot of wind protection. I dont think there is shore access and if there was I dont think there was much there.

So it makes a great stopover anchorage between the oriental area and Roanoke isl area in benign weather.
