Just looking for opinions on Navman instruments. Specifically, the 3100 series of electronics (speed/depth, wind, gps, autopilot), and/or the 5100 series chartplotters. Looking at the possibility of outfitting a new boat with Navman and I've heard good things with regard to price and service. Opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Navman questions

Hi Tim - I personally don't know much about Navman - I have more experience with B&G, Raymarine and Simrad. I'm curious to know what interests you about Navman. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Trevor

Good Stuff

I have a Navman 5100 chartplotter on my C310. I've had it for two years. works OK, visible in bright sunlight. No complaints.

Thumbs Up

I've got the 3100 Wind Instrument and like it a lot. I also have found their customer service to be exceptionally good.

Been working great for me

Tim, I bought navmans multi function package for both speed and depth the beggining of this past summer ( two transducers and one instrument ). I put the thru hull speed transducer in by cutting a hole in the boat. I epoxyed the depth transducer inside the hull. The construction of the instument seemed real nice to me and they instuments never failed. I dont really have any complaints about the setup. In general I have been happy with the purchase. The cost seems competitive also. Jay

Work great and good buy

I installed the Multi 3100, Wind 3100 and Moving Map GPS Tracker 5500 on the pedestal and their Repeat 3100 at the nav station on my H37C two years ago. Solid construction, good water proofing, easy to install and good documentation. I have attached the link to my installation in the photoforum Richard

Thanks Guys, and to Trevor...

I have used Raymarine, and have been fairly satisfied with the performance, however, they are a bit pricey compared to the Navman instruments (which were introduced to me at a boat show a few years ago). I MAY be outfitting a brand new boat(C-310) within the next 6 months, and will have the dealer do the quoting and installation. I was just curious to get some opinions from people who actually are using these instruments.
