Supposably very good!

apparently somebody left raymarine and started Navman. I'm told that these instruments are very good and half the price of Raymarine. A lot of parts stores are signing onto Navman big time. I happen to have all Raymarine insruments, so, I have to stay for the present.

how about Nexus

Not to add more confusion, but have you looked at the Nexus instruments. Complete system with a CPU.

Navman for me

I have just fitted the 3100 series to my yacht. Excellent price, installation instuctions and operation. Back up info from the company was also excellent!

Nexus Steve?

When some of us bought Nexus it was the best price/performer. I still prefer it technically to anything I have seen. But with the sale to ComNav it's future is confused. See Related Link for the new NX2 which seems to be an improved version of the same system. But at a higher price maybe than Navman, $1390 for a complete system from PYacht. You have to see the manual and all the options that are available with the PC Server to understand how good the Nexus really is.

Don't know that a sale is bad.

Ed: I don't know that a sale of the company will be bad. Look at Navico and Raytheon. This may be better in the fact that a company will stay focused on the products.

Not necessarily bad but. . . .

what about future parts and service for the older product? Actually many outlets still have the original Nexus kits and you could save a bundle. Especially on E-Bay. But do you want to buy the last generation system? Not sure I can recommend that direction.
