I happen to have an old Navik that, while it seems to be in good shape, will
probably be in need of repair someday in the future. I read a recent thread
that Navik is no longer supported in the US by Scanmar, the makers of the
Monitor Vane (which is a great vane from my personal experience with a
previous boat).
I called Scanmar to see if they still had any spare parts and the fellow
told me they had none what-so-ever.
I also know that Plastimo was the manufacturer/distributor of Navik, but
their website has no reference to Navik and they don't sell direct anyway.
Does anyone know of a distributor of Navik parts? If not, has anyone
considered making the bearings and maybe some of the connectors. Considering
the number of Naviks that seem to be on Vegas, and on this forum, a group
build of these might be economical.
If the answer to the above is all NO, then I will likely have my Navik for
sale as I don't want to have a device such as this on the boat with no parts
available. I will likely go with Pacific Light or Cape Horn - though I know
little of either than what I've read and heard.
Thanks,
