I am looking for a app to put on my iPad that I could use as a backup chart plotter. I have a Verizon mobile hot spot.

Navionics Marine is awesome on the iPad. Only costs $20. Full detail charts with gps tracking.

In search of my next boat Palm Harbor, FL
I used the Navionics app, but don't like the latest version. I found another app called iSailor, which I like, but is lacking a couple features like being able to down load tracks. All my sailing is coastal, so my only navigation software is my iPhone and my iPad.

Will have to check out isailor. The only other thing I would say is that the iPhone and iPad gps are not very accurate. They are good but not great and seem to show me often 100+ feet at least from where I think I am.

I've used it on the west coast, Mexico, BVI's - doesn't need internet, just uses the GPS in the iPad.

Very soon a new version of Transas iSailor will be released. Starting from that day, you will be able to import/export routes and tracks in KML format.
If you'd like to be the first to know when it happens, we have a page on Facebook.

Thank you for your interest in Transas iSailor and...If you have any questions, we would be glad to assist!
