My 37 ft cntr ckpit has a huge icebox where one diagram shows a nav station is located. Another owner felt the ice box was a better use of the space. Since I haven't been able to log miles on this vessel, I thought it better to get some experience with it and see for myself. In the last month I've thought about converting the space in the aft cabin opposite the head that is occupied by shelves and closet to a nav station. Some drawings show promise. I'd like to leave the shelf that's at the same level as the bunk to sit on and make the closet narrower so that I can still stow a couple of pieces of gear and yet put in a desk top of some sort to do all the chartin' and plottin' that I can stand. Who else feels this is a great idea?

Hi Don - Boat builders design interiors to suit what they "think" most people will want. Your idea sounds very workable, and if you think it'll suit the way you intend to use the boat better, then it probably will! Making improvements is 1/2 the fun of boat ownership. So go for it and plot away...! Best of luck, Trevor
