Here it comes folks.......some of the price increases in the Navico lineup are pretty impressive. 25%+ and then some. We can be reasonably certain to expect some pretty large increases from others as well.

Example:
B&G VHF MARINE RADIO,DSC,V20 Old SRP $279 New SRP $349

This has already hit some in the solar industry, including Solbian, which are some of the most expensive panels (not the intent of the tariffs) and they are not made in China but rather Italy.

No Marine VHF radios have been made in USA for years. Only the Amateur bands have radios made in USA.
Japan took VHF radio market over and appears to be selling out to China.
Guess who is trade dealing now to remove USA tariffs?
Japan, UK, Italy, Australia, et al.

A quick market search USA, No apparent cost increase in USA.

Perhaps Navico has other international trade issues.

Westmarine still has free shipping for the example radio above...

Perhaps a little more international shipping cost.;)

I suspect that the price changes will take a bit to take effect as the notification just came went out to dealers today.
If you care to see a complete list of products from China subject to tariffs (28 pages)...it can be found in the link below, the fourth item on the list is Nuclear reactors which I guess is a good thing to slap a tariff on.

I guess I'm, a pessimist, but if the tariff comes off I bet the price stays up.
Last I checked we're still being charged a fuel surcharge on aviation fuel, even though the price has reduced dramatically. Now that is something to get pissed about, don't-cha think?

Only one, Elecraft, is left as a U.S. brand and they are a niche market making high end ham transceivers consisting of both U.S. and foreign components. All the rest are Asian or European blends and thus far, prices have either been stable or decreased. The effect of trade wars are not quantifiable in the short term any more than weather being described to indicate climate changes.

Quantifiable shmantifiable. If these idiotic tariffs are taking money out of the pockets of anyone who can't afford it, they are doing more damage than good.
A good number of these tariffs are on items not even produced in the US and retooling to do so would take years. Since many of those items we don't produce are items that aren't economical to produce in the US because there just isn't enough demand, chances are nobody will retool for them anyway. Besides, it's not like buying American is any guaranty of quality, these days.
We're way off topic drift here but suffice it to say it's not an issue which can be viewed myopically but rather for the long term greater good. I think JFK said it better - "ask not..."
