I came across this new app by NauticEd.org

Has any one experience with this app?

What is the App called? My only experience with NauticEd is that I bought a instructional book from them about backing a sailboat under power. I wasn't really impressed. It was mostly diagrams with little text to explain the procedure. You had to have QR reader on you phone or tablet to read the squiggles marks on the pages which brought up videos with the instruction.

I got my ICC certification through NauticEd, so the app is on my phone and ipad. The coursework is OK on the ipad, too small on the iphone. It also lets you log your sailing days into your on-line logbook (a great tool), but sadly does not let you add crewmembers to outings for verified days. So I end up doing all that on the PC once or twice a month.

Thanks guys. Jackdaw, looks like they maintain the data log on their website (NauticEd cloud). Can you download the info to your PC? The talk about the account as being free, are the up selling service and storage to generate revenue? What are your observations of the ed materials?

@jssailem, yes the on-line log is free and rather well done. You can create several default boats, regular crew, and then create 'voyages' for each time you go out. After you get used it, it only takes a minute or two. The log is online for your use, and you can print it, save it as PDF or (cool) give your ID and view-only password to a charterer and they can view your resume and training online. Like mine here.

Having crew do the same create verified entries, which is nice too.

It all 100% free - no upselling, and I'm sure its free to get people to take their on-line courses. I really enjoyed the RYC Day Skipper course to get my ICC.
