Slocum and Gulliver
Sailing Alone Around the World is classic travel, sailing literature. Personally, Joshua Slocum is an inspiration for self-sufficiency, genius, and resourcefulness (all noble qualities for a cruiser). It is short enough that you can get mostly through it, if not complete it, with some downtime before turning in.I like Gulliver's Travels, too. Interestingly enough, among the many objects of its satire are published travelogues, such as Slocum's. It has a nice counterveiling presence while providing those fictional wanderings of the mind that can be refreshing at least from time to time.
