Hi, I'm thinking about maybe bringing my 13' ZUMA down to RI. I live in Western Massachusetts so I figured somewhere on the NW part of the bay would save some driving time. I have sort of focused on the "Aborn St." launch in Cranston/Pawtuxet. Experience wise, I did the last half of the season last year, and this year, but on the flat local water out here. I guess I'm looking for everything anyone out here can throw at me in regards to the do's/don'ts, or here/not there things that I should be aware of. Thanks.

Years ago I used to trailer my O'Day Javilin and my Sturdee Cat to Bristol Harbor and put in at Independence park. I live in the Taunton area of MA. The park has since been improved with a real nice ramp and parking area. On a nice day you could sail over to Prudence Island or Hog Island in the harbor.
There's a fairly newer ramp over by the mouth of the Kickamuit River on Bristol Neck on the Mount Hope Bay side. You could sail over to the Spar Islands in Mount Hope Bay. This area has excellent protection from a strong SW Wind. These are two of my favorite sailing areas. There are rocks on the North side of the Spars, so you would want to come in from the South side of the islands.

This year I'm doing so dry sailing next to my house. Perhaps I'll stick her in the water next year if I'm feeling well enough God willing.

The Sturdee Cat was a fun boat. I once sailed her on the lake next to my house about 5 days before Christmas. There was a thin sheet of ice on the lake and the boat made a racket crashing through it.
I had an Origo alcohol heater in the bow of the boat with the heat going and that small cuddy was as warm as toast. This boat had a convertible top with a back curtain.
It was a great boat for the off season and I used to trailer it to Bristol RI. I use to bait fish for Flounder out of it in Bristol Harbor back then. I didn't need an outboard for it. When the wind died, I'd break out the oar.

I'll bet that was a neat experience. Put a smile on my face just thinking about it. Reminds me of the days I would go sailing on Weiss lake in the middle of winter. No ice down here but cold. I would be the only one out there I can assure you!

It sure was fun Keith. I don't know what it is but I love a small boat with some sort of a cuddy for weather protection or just hang out in, eat, or take a nap on the hook. I had high hopes for this boat but they never materialized and I wound up selling it.
