I was recently walking the docks at a Marina on Lake West Point in Georgia and after eyeing up the CDI roller furler on an H23, another Hunter caught my eye. I could not find any markings to tell the model, but I could not stop looking at what I thought was quite a remarkable vessel. She was somewhere in the 24-28 foot range I believe, with tiller steering (the kind that goes though the cockpit floor). She had a narrow stern with a lazareet, 4 rectangular portales on each side and a deep companionway hatch. An outboard engine was mounted in the center of the narrow stern. All the hardware looked sturdy and she seemed ready for some blue water. Can anyone indentify the model of this Hunter. Just curious.

HMMmmm

Sounds like the 25.5. You might want to look at the pics of the hunters in the spec area. Cheers T

25 or 27

John, If its a Hunter, its most probably a 25. It has the rudder post in the cockpit and fits your description. The 25.5 has an outboard rudder and wide transom and the outboard is mounted on the side of the stern. If its not a 25, it could possibly be a 27 but they came standard with inboard power. I'm not sure if they had an outboard option. Dick Vance H-25.5 " Honey Bear"

Thanks Torrence and Dick

Thanks for your responses. I am thinking that it is a 25 as well. There was a 25.5 there also and although it had 4 cabin portales I remmember they were not all the same size. I have checked the photo archive and could not find a good clearly detailed picture of a 25, but what I saw did not rule out a 25 or a 27. One interesting thing of note is that the mast was "deck stepped" and the attachment looked exactly like my 23...leads me to believe that it was meant for trailoring. Thanks again...jt
