just like the one that I kit-built. The very 1st step in the process was to cut a slit in the bottom and then fiberglass the centerboard trunk to the bottom. In general, if a centerboarder is going to leak, it will be at the trunk. It was unfortunate that this most critical area would be the spot to "cut one's teeth" in doing glass work.Positive Flotation was a builter "option." I suggest that your buddy checks to see if the forepeak and under the cockpit seats are full of blocks of closed-cell foam.
