Mystery Wiring

Just venting here. I am a senior, plus size sailor. Gravity sucks chest muscle downwards, and getting in, and more importantly, out of my side lazarette of my 30' Mk 1 is never easy. I tend to avoid standing upside down to get things done when I can. But I needed to run wiring to an accessory plug near the helm to keep my tablet juiced and so I greased up my sides and in I went. A little contorting, wishing it was a 34 and not a 30, or I was, finally get legs where I can sorta move around ...and discovered, tucked way up high inside under the coaming what appeared to be an extension cord. Followed it back and tucked deep inside the winch handle cutouts out of sight was a two pronged power outlet, likely for some ancient Loran system. Start removing it and working backwards, obviously to the fuse panel, and it is an extension cord! And why haven't I discovered it before?
The installer did a heck of a hiding job because it was routed well under all internal lips, under the battery box and up, buried deep within the wiring harness where it was taped (not connected, no, it was twisted and taped!) into a pair of wires attached to the Accessory circuit breaker. Long stopped working, but no one ever removed it once it became obsolete!
And I thought I had discovered All the mysteries my boat had. Wonder if there is anything else in store?
Moral of the story? Never stop looking. When I bought her the bilge wiring was connected by Marrette connectors deep under the engine!

Laughed myself silly reading this Ralph. Nice fix. What I love about sailors, we're a resilient lot.
