Hi,
I found a pair of bare wires in the rear cocpit compartment, in my 27'. I put a tester on them and thought they were dead, until I traced the red wire to the ignition switch, I turned the key on and low and behold power. Does any one have a clue as to what could or should be hooked up to the wire
Thanks Buzz

I guess its possible that the original blower was hooked to it. I took your advise on the grounding wires and went through them all shrot of connections that had crimps. I did notice that the terminal for battery #2 on the Perko switch was a little loose . and when I touchced tthe #2 battery wire to the #1 perko teminal the lights got bright. Do you think it could be the Perko
Thanks

No........ you just hooked your house system to both batteries... I'd check the house battery, sounds like it's a little weak.

Thanks, but the first thing I did was remove the batteries and had them tested they were both Equally strong

I think it highly unlikely that you have a voltage drop across the battery switch that would cause a noticeable difference in light intensity.

If you remove the positive power wire from Batt 1 and Batt 2 and flip them such that they are reversed, (Batt 1 wire is actuall on Batt 2 and vice versa) does the brighter perko switch position move or stay the same? I.e. if it was brighter in Batt 1 position before swapping power wires is it still brighter in Batt 1 or is it now brighter in Batt 2 after swapping positive power wires?

Put another way, when you swap positive wires on the batteries, if the dim lighting "follows" the battery it is a battery problem, despite what the person who tested it says. If the dim lighting STAYS with Batt 1 position or batt 2 position despite flipping the power wiring, the fault is in the wiring. Make sense?

Just here. I have recently joined the C-27 mail list server on Yahoo Groups, so I might end up posting some over there. But, for now, just my thread on this forum.

I would work on it at home, if I had a good internet connection. I am rural, and DSL is not available. Cable doesn't come to me either. I use my cell phone as a tethering modem for an old desktop PC when I want to get on-line, but to me, when I am home, the last thing I want to be doing is working at the computer, I have a boat to work on... :D

I may have to get drug into the 2000's soon and get me a laptop so I can do stuff remotely.

Thanks for you help !

My pleasure. I like to try to pay it forward, help when I can, in hopes that help will be there for me when I need it. Sometimes I am forgetful about that, but I try... :D

I work in the marine audio industry and spend a lot of time with powerboat manufacturers on their wiring. Lots of times I have to draw it and study it, and there is much I have still to learn, but I am around boat wriing most every day, so for DC systems, feel free to ask a question. If I know an answer or have experience that firmly points me towards a recommendation, I will help out. If I don't know, I will be sure to tell ya!
