I recently bought a 2007 Catalina 309 and found a white plastic part in the starboard lazarette that looks like it's designed to slide into something (photo attached). It's too big to fit across the transom opening and I can't find any place that it fits. Does anyone know what it is for?

I believe it slides into your walk through transom but you say it's too wide? Our 310 had a similar piece... Perhaps a fridge divider or anchor locker?

Does your walk through transom have slots for a piece like that to slip into? I'm wondering if they just put the wrong size piece on your boat.

There's nothing in the transom walkway except the latches and supports for the seat. I'm beginning to think the previous owner has an unusual sense of humor (or maybe he was planning to filet some large fish).

All the 310's and I believe 309's have a piece like that with brackets that it slides into right below where the removable seat it. It is to keep stuck from sliding off of the back.

C350's have 'em too. Should be a piece of white plastic with a groove in it near the deck on each side of the walk through and the mystery piece just drops right in there.

OP said too big to fit across opening and there are no slots to fit it. My 309, no. 82 has no slots and no piece to fit across.
