Hunter 260 Santa Rosa Beach, FL
When I returned, very happy to find my H260 still floating in the bayou after Ivan came through I found the typical water down below that had blown in around the companionway and there was about an inch in the bilge - pretty good all in all. A week later I was moving some stuff around in the galley and found that in my utenzil tray in the cupboard under the stove, but up on the shelf, it was full of water. By now every that could drain was dry etc. No sign of a serious leak from the starboard porthole but not sure how it would have gotten under the counter and into the shelf anyway. Just thought I'd ask for any input before I start my water test experiments. See ya and fair winds!

Wind driven rain will find a way

My 240 went through Frances and Jeanne moored in my driveway on the trailer. I too found some water (1-2 quarts) in the bilge, but none elsewhere. I suspect rain, driven by 80-90 mph winds and gusts over 100, forced rain in through places that wouldn't normally leak. I'm going to keep an eye on things, and not do a whole lot of leak testing. If I see persistent signs of leakage, I'll go from there. Regards, Marc_B

Darn those Leaks!

I think that every boat has a leak that only leaks during hard, wind driven rain. I would be more concerned with a leak that leaked when any little bit of water was around. If the leak starts to occur more and more it is a problem. If it is something that occured from a really bad storm I don't think that there is much that you can do to fix that.
