Mystery Leak

I've owned a '99 310 for 6 months, and only in the last three-four weeks a leak has manifested itself as a puddle on the cabin sole on starboard, in the vicinity of the galley. Stains leading up under the starboard galley casework would indicate a source behind the cabinets. Due to liners and cabinet bottoms I cant trace it any further. There is no obvious staining at or around ports above. Anybody have any ideas? It has'nt rained here in over a week and there was the biggest puddle yet. Very frustrating!

Arch Angel

If you have a fiberglass arch, you may find that it collects water and leaks through the bottom fittings over time. I had weep holes drilled on the exterior sides of the base of the arch and problem solved. Check it out. Good luck.

Leaks and no rain?

You didn't mention whether there might be other sources of water above the cabinetry. No waves breaking over the boat? Did you recently fill your water tank and where is the filler on an H310? Did you hose the deck just before this happened? Are you sure the stain is related? It seems it would still be damp if a large puddle just appeared. These are tough problems with liners.

Mystery Leak Too!

I own a (99) 340 that suffered from two leaks. One while stationary & one while sailing. The first was traced to a hole drilled under the splash hood either at the factory or during commissioning which allowed water (rain or wash water) to enter under the liner then run down leaking out at the dish rack then lower on the port side. The hole was filled upon locating the problem & this leak solved. The second leak while sailing resulted in water leaking between the hull & liner into the port v-berth hanging locker then onto the cabin sole was harder to locate. It has been traced ( I hope ) to a thru-hull drilled on the port side at the anchor locker. This hole only has a stainless cover on the outside with no fitting or hose inside the locker. I am not sure of it's intended purpose. There is also a small unsealed opening in the frame inside the locker on the port side. While sailing with the port side rail down, water is entering the anchor locker through this mystery thru-hull, filling up to the level of the opening in the frame then entering inside the liner, locker etc. as the anchor locker drain can't drain the water fast enough. My dealer & I only traced the suspected source of this second leak after the boat was hauled for the season. This thru-hull is not shown on the factory drawings so it's origin is suspect. Yours could be a similar problem. These leaks are frustrating but don't give up.

Possibly ...................

Had a similar problem with our 99 H310. Our leak in the vicinity of the cabinets turned out to be coming from the stbd. chainplate. Ultimately did both chainplates as there was very little sealant behind the plates. Hope this is your answer, although the removal of the plates is like the trials of Jobe.

Still a mystery

What's truly vexing about this leak is that the boat will be left closed up, water system not pressurized, no rain, no heeling, no nothin' and a puddle big enough to soak a big handful of paper towels will be there when next visited! And during a very spirited sail in 20+ kt wind and significant heeling on both tacks, not a drop! A watched leak does'nt, darn it.
