After having the Glacier Bay refrigerant unit replaced in my 86 H34, ( the compressor was mounted aft of the ice box,) and removing two large cork tiles on the bulkhead between the two, 3 strange cutouts resembling wine glasses without the base were revealed. Adjacent to these cutouts, are others where I store bowls, plates, and cups/glasses. What is the purpose of the newly discovered holes?

They are original and are the front (facing the galley) of a small box (in the lazzerette) like the one for plates - used to store glasses. Never used mine for that. here is a pic of it - you can see I removed the plate box to instal a microwave.

If ya get the right size coffee cup, you can put. A couple in each slot, with handles out the slot

My wife sneers at those cut outs every time she's on the boat, and wants a re-design. It's on my "To Do" list. I may just make small shelved cabinets out of them with sliding teak veneered doors.

thanks for solving the mystery

Thanks to all for the help. The cutouts are too small for my wine glasses, and my hands are too large to fit into the openings. There must be some way to make the space more utile. If I find one, I'll let ya'all know!

Joe, I saw your note from last month, but didn't see it until the other day. Where in Henderson's are you? I looked for "our" spreader configuration at Henderson's while heading out the other day and didn't see one. I'm at Chester Cove on Aliceanna St., and was at Henderson's for 8 years. Dave.
