This block is at the top of my mast in the front. Why? Not a halyard block and I wouldn’t think for a topping lift since it’s in front. I’m stumped.
Happy to have an easy question for once! You are just throwing out the easy question…
The block is on a “crane” that faces the bow. Pretty big block maybe it is the photo. It is used to hold a Spinnaker halyard. Such a sail could be a standard spinnaker or an asymmetrical spinnaker. For your use I would opt for the latter.
Fun to keep the boat moving when the winds die down to a hares breath.![]()
I love the idea of getting an asymmetrical spinnaker going. Thanks for the advice!Downwind sails are intended to fly to the side and forward of the rigging so, unlike your upwind headsails that must be attached to the forestay, their halyard is set up to hoist them ahead of the forestay so they keep clear of the standing rigging. At your leisure you might do a search with these keywords: "asymmetric spinnaker rigging diagram" "small boat spinnaker rigging" . keep learning, don't throw anything out yet. heh, heh.![]()
for sure!Just replace that old rusty link before you do much else ...
