My Radio Won't Tune

Okay, admittingly I have a VHF radio (Horizon) that you most likely would see in the original Jaws movie from the mid-70s. However it has been a great and steadfast radio that works everytime. Now suddenly it's not showing channel numbers and is not tuning to any frequency. Any suggestions for the last breath of this radio?

Not really. Best just to invest in a newer state of the art DSC capable radio. Other wise you will continue to pour money into older technology. It probably fulfilled its mission and taken good care of you. But I don't recommend a burial at sea.

PLL not locking up or any number of other potential causes. Suffice it to say it would cost more to identify the problem than the radio is worth ( then add repair cost) not to mention how short-lived any repair might be. Need a paper weight?

Sounds like it's not getting power. Wiggle the power connector or check with a volt meter.

I just installed this same radio on my boat this summer. I also installed the optional RAM mic. It is really a nice radio for the buck.

Don't confuse the 2200 with the 2000. The 2200 has built in GPS and AIS receivers and you can get it for $305 less a $40 rebate, net $265 including shipping.

Thanks everyone for your response to my somewhat tongue-in-cheek inquiry. She served the boat well beyond her radio years, I just thought I might save a couple of bucks!
