We purchased a nice used Catalina 27 this past weekend.
Needs a bottom job pretty badly and a good cleaning but the interior wood is in great shape. Cushions are newer and in great condition.
I plan on taking the hull down to gelcoat and painting with PPG Concept (like Imeron) and then bottom coating with VC17.
Plan on switching out 2 winches with selftailing winches, adding a boom kicker.
Needs new halyards and main sheets. Any suggestions. Original halyards were wire/rope.
I don't plan on replacing with wire/rope.

Good luck on your refit. BTW, you may find it problematic to change from wire to all rope halyards, as the pulley blocks used at the top of the mast are thinner in width to work specifically with the wire halyard. Avoid using very thick lines as they can potentially jamb or bind at the top of the mast. You can still buy wire to rope halyards & their benefit is that they are super durable, but they can make a lil' more noise when they clang against the aluminum mast. It's nice to have a sailboat on a trailer, as you can save a ton of $$ on storing in your back yard over the winter. But then you will need to buy or rent a big truck to haul her. The C 27 is really the biggest boat out there that is even capable of towing. We used to have a C 25 with a trailer, but I never towed her, because raising & lowering the mast is a P.I.T.A. & our trailer was a real piece o' crap. Your looks to be in decent shape.

Thanks. I will be taking the mast down soon and had planned on measuring the sheeves at the top of the mast and buying halyards to fit these sheeves if they are in good shape.

I envy the sailor who can keep their boat on a trailer in their back yard over the winter. It would be awesome to just go out back & do a lil' work here & there, instead of driving an hour to my boat at its slip. Cheers.

I haven't taken the mast down yet. It does have a tabernacle that is hinged. Should make taking down easier.

Howdy! We just bought a C27 too. We built an A-frame to step the mast down and my girl friend and I did it With medium effort. It'll take more effort to get it back up pretty sure.

I can't remember where I found this but this is the system I am going to use.
Please see photos.
I wish I could give credit for this system but I don't know where I found it. Appologies please.
