I mounted my new swim ladder this weekend. I looked all over for a nice one, and found this one on eBay. It's a double fold ladder, and it extends way deep into the water. I used 3/8" thick aluminum plates to back up the mounts. I also added a clip to the stern rail to hold the ladder in the stowed position. I will add a lanyard so that a person in the water can release the ladder. I'm happy with it.

I like it...

Steve Was this on someones ebay store, or was it a used ladder. I like the look of it and would fit nice on the back of my 25. We currently have a detachable ladder that slips into a couple of brackets on the starboard side of the cockpit. I hate it, and will probably lose the ladder one of these days. Yours looks like the perfect solution. Ross in Tampa

nice job - very important for satety

very nice job. i think a permanent ladder which you can access from the water is a must, especially if you do any solo sailing. mine is similar and i find it will stay upright against the rubrail without any fastener making it easy to put it down from the water.(if you find you need a fastener, i would use something that will come free from the water.) i put one on last year that i purchased from RailMakers.com

Great model

Steve: looks like a solution I have been looking for too for my Oday 23. Do you have a make and model number? I know you said you couldn't find it new, but it might help me look for something similar. Can you post the dimensions too? thanks.

swim ladder

I personnaly have never had to replace a ladder on my boat ,1985 26 foot anniv edition, but have had great success with D&R marine in ASsonet Mass. Speak to Rudy he used to work for Oday in parts I believe and I have always been satisfied with what I get thru him at reasonable prices for new stuff. Many items are direct rplacement and fit just fine.

OEM Ladder

I contacted Rudy before I found this ladder. He sent me drawings of the ladder he sells as the OEM ladder. Besides costing $300, it wasn't much different than West Marine's ladder for $177. It wasn't as long as mine.

Hey Ross

Ross I have a laddervery similar to the one Steve just installed . I'm was looking for a second one to mount on the side for scuba diving. If you replace yours let me know I'll take the one you have.
