my new rail seat

Finally got my rail seat done for the boat. I got several pieces of 3/4" starboard from a local grocery store they were cutting boards for the kitchen.

Took me a day to sand down the one I used to get all the cut marks out and get them like new smooth.

I was going to put a small back on the seat about 2 inches high to make it feel a little more secure while sitting there but honestly now that it's in I'm leaving it as is.

Side note it makes a nice cutting board when I got fishing to cut bait.

All in all I was really surprised that it came out as good as it did.

I know it has zero interest for a lot of ya but I'm sure someone out there would like it.

Also makes a good diving board :)

The only thing I don't like about it is I wish I had some flat head counter sunk bolts but I didn't have any and the local hardware store didn't either and anything larger is an hour away.
I can always fix it later if it bugs me but thus far you cant feel them when sitting there so not to worried about it.

Could come in handy for grilling, too! Any difficulty operating the motor with it there?

Sounds like a nice improvement, especially the multi-functional part.

Any pics for us less wordy/more visual folk?

did the pics not show up? I took 3.

It doesn't block the motor at all

Sitting in the back corner as I do a lot honestly it gives a little bit of a head rest not saying it's cushy hehe but decent to lean your head on.

Last thing that's pretty cool is using it to jump in the water with my snorkel crap on. If you've takin your life line off then you don't know what I'm talking about but if your life line is like mine and the sides that are supposed to clip off are no longer functional you'd know why a jump off place is nice :)

Anyway the seat is the main function although it's only on one tack don't want one on the other side cause of the ladder but it's all good.

If I would have had to buy the starboard it would have been very expensive but since that part was free all I had to get was the cheep rail clamps.
