I have a 6.0 hp Johnson on my 1974 H25, does anybody know what the fuel consumption is? I'm assuming the outboard is the same vintage.

R

Ray Bowles

All are totally different.

Ike, All outboard engines will have different fuel consumption rates based on boat size, hull configuration, current, wind and prop size, etc. A method to figure out your fuel consumption on your boat would be to fill your tank (most outboard fuel tanks for a motor of your size is 5 or 6 gallons) and run your motor for 2 to 5 hours under your normal conditions in your area. Then refill your tank and figure your fuel consumption as gallons of fuel used per hour. Be sure your tank fuel gauge is operative during this test so you don't run out while figuring out when you will run out. Good luck, Ray

Brain Candy

I knew a simpleton would respond along those lines. A flashy lure always reels in the evening's dinner. Ray, thanks for your serious response.

The man is not a simpleton!. If you have been reading responses, you would know that Tom is not only an american veteran that fought for you in korea but you would see that the man brings humor to a world of stiff. He has good input in the areas he is very knowledgeable and submits humor where it fits. This forum is almost a family and is trusted by many. From hearing him and others, I know who gives good advise and who does not. I ask you to not be so quick at your reading of people if you do not follow this forum and the PEOPLE on it. Yes, this is a people, a human, forum. There is good and bad advice here. If you disagree with the advice say so, if you want to judge the giver, take a hike. If not, welcome to the family, all are welcome. sincerely r.w.landau

Hey Ike, You Asked for It

If you knew one of us simpletons would respond that way why did you write it that way? As my son would say "Dude, lighten up." Or is there really a more profound or smaller reason for you to be so sensitive about the size of your Johnson?

agreed, set yourself up

I laughed pretty darn hard when I read Toms' post myself. Rightly said, lighten up Ike. -- Craig

THANK YOU MR.LANDAU

The veteran part is great to hear but not necessary. But I am probably answering for those who can not. We,the Marine Corp League,Dog Co.2 BN.7TH Marines,VFW,DAV,and other organizations also have forums and a little humor helps.I have never seen the Pope laugh, but have seen various chiefs of staff chuckle to remove the dailly tasks of the serious things that we are or were involved in.Just think,if Johson would have said my out board motor we would not have any humor these past two days,so lets have a cup of coffee and be buddies. If an apoligy is in order,I do commit. But lets see if I can get in touch with about 50 or so guys, whos voices were silenced 50 years ago. Tom

NO apologizies Tom...and keep 'em comming..

My daily chuckle is reading your posts, both the serious ones and the not so serious ones. I agree with the previous comments and and add that some of these folks need to "get a life".

On a serious note

I was asked ,that if I only had enough money to send half of the Ike Cooks back to the Thousand Islands by water what would I do.ANSWER--------I would send them all back, half way.

HEY GUYS.........TRUCE!

I found humor in the first 4 postings on this question and also in the 5th. After that, it was sad. It was like piling on, we're family so rise up. I have a huge ammount of respect for Tom and his humor. I am sure a great, colorful story is in his past life on the water. The depth of his wisdom shows in his technical responses. Sorry guys, but I felt the responses were out of line with this sites goals. Ray

Whew! I guess I should have checked the responses sooner. My little Johnson was tied up for the last couple of days, being Valentines Day and all. Tom, you're right... I was wide open. I apologize for the simpleton comment. Apparently your cheering section is larger than mine. ...probably have a bigger Johnson too! It must be this freakin' February weather. I'm going to visit my boat this weekend. It'll help clear the cobwebs. So for everybody that I got stirred up... I'm sorry. The advice gained is very valuble. And after this... I might just go get a bigger Johnson. And for future reference, my titles will always be eye catchers. Just like the little blonde up the street. She'd like to see my Johnson or maybe she'd prefer to glance at my whisker pole. Cheers!

Nah, that's not my request

We're all here to have fun, after all, so let's do that! But every now and then there's some piling-on that needs to be broken up. And I'm usually the guy in the striped shirt. (No XFL jokes, please.)
