I sincerely apologize to anyone who took my post, in Hermits thread about outhauls, as to imply that if you didn't sail offshore for long distances you were not a sailor. I was either misundestood, or painted with too broad of a brush. I was somewhat offended by a couple of posts in particular, and that is who I aimed my remarks at. To me it makes no difference whether you sail a sunfish on a farm pond, or a mega yacht. If you mess around with boats, and sailboats in particular, you are one of the good guys. Hermit asked about the outhaul for cruising. The post that says there is only one proper sail trim is correct, as far as it goes. But the cruiser has a totally different mindset than a week end guy. This does not make there anything wrong with weekenders, but I don't think they understand a long distance cruiser.
