Thanks to all for your input. I really like the "6 Pack" method.

Good on the wax. I picked up some Turtle Wax yesterday.

My best friend has a chemical business and when I mentioned the Phosphonic acid, he has a product that they use in cooling towers to remove the calcium and it contains Phosphonic acid. Might cost me a "6 Pack" for a gallon or two.

Insurance on the boat: UMU gave me a quote of $460, Boat US was at $245 and my StateFarm guy came in at $131 for $1,000,000 Liability plus. He has all my insurance covered.

Soon, it will be time to head her into the wind, pop the sails, kill the motor and sail off into "Never Never Land"

Thanks

Bob

Thanks again

Looks just like mine!! I pick her up Saturday. Sunday will be cleaning and polishing, the "6 Pac" way.

Don't forget to remove the engine before trailering. Makes for a heavy tail and might come off in someones grill.

I bought a "Sailing for Dummies" book. It is fun to read and full of info like heading into the wind before raising the sails. Seems like a no brainer but..............

I plan to launch mine and reef the main and then if all goes well, raise the Jib.

We can share our first attempt and keep the "Old Salts" laughing. LOL!

Hey r .oril How did everything go?
Hey v3n0m,

The pick up went well. The owner gave me a ton of extra stuff.
Filled the back of my truck.

Got her home and used a power sprayer to remove the calcium on the bottom. Yesterday I spent time rubbing the gelcoat out, has some stress cracks but this is a 20 year old boat.

Found a few very small holes in the bottom gel coat after removing the calcium and plan to use Watertight to fix them until I can do the bottom paint thing. Cost $2500 to have it done and I can do it for about $400.

Took the crap out of the gas tank area, bumpers ect. Need to throw away the old gas. Kill spiders.

Next thing is to practice raising and lowering the mast in my back yard. Saw the videos, looks easy. Right!!

Overall the boat is in very good condition for $6000.

Stay in touch,

Bob

WOW it looks really great. I wish my windows were still black. Good luck and keep me updated. I have a little trouble with the mast but I'm working on it. Let me know if you find out something I don't know.

I have a 4 day weekend coming up. If you want to come down to MDR I'll be available to give you a hand. Might even get Timo42 and Novelman to come down. Novelman is up in your neck of the woods, Leona Valley.

BTW V3om I would add a bow tie down while trailering. Makes a big difference when you go over dips.

Thanks. Checked on a Tandem setup. About $500-$700 with breaks and paint.
Dark windows on the internet, IdaSalior I think, $45.
Did you try to do the mast solo?

WOW bow tie down! Best advice yet. Will make big difference. Thanks Caguy.

r.oril Solo looks to be imposible unless using a winch I think. I brought it up with just two. It was a little scary bringing it down for the first time.

I will be at the Daytona Sea Breeze Resort for the week 13th to 19th. Plans changed. Bringing the mast down with two people is getting easier and easier every time.
